I’ve been meaning to have a go at carving a spiral for a little while, and, today I did it. My original intention was to create a tapered spiral, but I think I may have been getting ideas well above my ability. Also, it was supposed to be a pendant – but, it fought me all the way, and who am I to argue?

So, I ended up with a White Thorn tamper, cut in a spiral – albeit, a little uneven.

At about 3 inches long, It looks bigger in the picture than it actually is – the pipe is quite small. Incidentally, the pipe is a very early 20th Century meerschaum I recently restored to its full beauty.

Anyway, I’m very pleased with the outcome for a first effort, and encouraged to keep practicing – I will create that tapered spiral pendant yet!!

This one is available to purchase – €15 with free worldwide postage. (Does not include my beautiful pipe!!!)
